Mission Read &
Feed – Food Drive at NPL This Summer!
This summer, Normal Public
Library will be collecting food for local
food pantries. Please bring in a non-perishable
food donation that is not past the expiration
date to put in the Kroger grocery cart
by the Discovery Room. We will chart our progress
with a bulletin board display, with each full
cart moving a rocket closer to the moon. To
reach the moon, our goal is 1,500 items. Last
summer, there were 3,301 participants in the
summer reading program – just think,
if every summer reading participant donated
just one item, we could make it to the moon
and back again! All patrons (not just
summer readers) are encouraged to donate to
this worthwhile MISSION! Thank you in
advance!
Teen Readers, Join
the “Pluto Memorial Book Club”
This Summer
Teen readers who have completed
grades 6* through 12 are invited to join the
“Pluto Memorial Book Club” summer
reading program at Normal Public Library!
Participants can earn free paperback books
by completing reading goals; those who complete
the program will be entered in a drawing for
a number of great prizes (check out the display
case near the sing-up area!), including a
computer! Sign up begins Thursday, May
31, at the circulation desk on the main
floor. (* = kids who have completed 6th grade
can choose either
the teen program, or the children’s
“Mission Read” summer program)
An additional incentive for Pluto participants
will be a chance to win a FREE copy of the
final Harry Potter book! Join the reading
club and write a short book review between
May 31 and July 20, and your name will go
into a drawing. Four books are available,
and the drawing will be July 21.
