Fourth through sixth graders who complete the program can also sign up to attend a special "After-Hours" party at the library!

  • Meet Award-Winng Children's Author, Janice N. Harrington

  • Award-Winning Children's Author, Janice Harrington will give a presentation from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in the Community Room of the Library.

    Ms. Harrington is the author of Going North, for which she received the Ezra Jack Keats Award. Her newest picture book, The Chicken-Chasing Queen of Lamaar County, has received rave reviews across the board and is a 2009 Monarch Award nominee. Ms. Harrington is also an accomplished poet. After working as Director of the Children's Department at the Champaign Public Library for several years, she now teaches at the University of Illinois.

    Following the author’s presentation there will be refreshments and her books will be available for purchase and autographing. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet and talk with a real children’s author!

    Thank you to the Friends of the Normal Public Library for sponsoring this FREE program! Thanks also to Barnes & Noble for helping with the event.

    Three, Four, and Five-Year-Olds are invited to attend a weekly forty-minute program that includes storytelling and a variety of other activities such as fingerplays, songs, games, and crafts. Led by members of the Children's Department staff.

Classes last for five weeks beginning April 1, 2008 and ending May 1, 2008.

All children must meet the age requirement in order to be eligible.

Registration is required by each individual parent. Phone registrations are accepted.

    Three, Four, and Five-Year-Olds are invited to attend a weekly forty-minute program that includes storytelling and a variety of other activities such as fingerplays, songs, games, and crafts. Led by members of the Children's Department staff.

Classes last for five weeks beginning April 1, 2008 and ending May 1, 2008.

All children must meet the age requirement in order to be eligible.

Registration is required by each individual parent. Phone registrations are accepted.

Preschoolers and their families can come enjoy several stories, from old favorites to new favorites, shared by a member of the Children’s Staff. The stories will be geared toward 3-5 year olds, but everyone is welcome!! Stories will be read in the Book Nook at the back of the Children's Department at 10:30 am. Session length varies, but is usually around half an hour.

Lapsit is an interactive program for children ages 0 to 23 months accompanied by an adult. Each lapsit session includes songs, fingerplays, books, and baby games, intended to stimulate and enhance development of language and senses.

Classes last for five weeks beginning February 18, 2008 and ending March 18, 2008.

All children must meet the age requirement in order to be eligible.

Registration is required by each individual parent. Phone registrations are accepted.
