Minutes of the Board of Trustees
December 19, 2007
Members present: Joan Steinburg, President,
Amy Christensen, Karen Farr, Charles Sila, Susan Stillwell
and Robert Wegman, Library Administrator. Also present
were Ruth Reeves, Jeanne Moonan, Lolita Netter, Tori
Melican, and Daniel Freburg (visitor).
President Steinburg called the meeting
to order at 6:03 p.m.
Mr. C. Sila moved that the minutes of
the previous meeting and the agenda for the current
meeting be approved as presented. Miss Farr seconded
the motion and it carried 5-0.
President’s Report
No report.
Librarian’s Report
1. Monthly financial report. Revenue: Revenue for this
fiscal year is running about where it should be for
this time of year. Expenditures: None.
2. Parking and circulation: The circulation for November
was up 276.
3. RSA/ILS: The Normal Public Library is actively participating
on the RSA/ALS committees pertaining to the new/upgraded
automation system. The go live date was December 6,
2007. The staff gave an update on the new system. Discussion
was held.
Committee Reports
Finance
Mrs. Christensen moved that expenditures amounting to
$42,433.97 and one payroll totaling $60,434.00 be paid.
Mr. C. Sila seconded the motion and it carried 5-0.
Alliance Library System
No report.
Personnel
No report.
Building and Grounds
The handrails for the east sidewalk have been installed.
Old Business
1. Uptown redevelopment continues and patron access
to the library remains a concern. Construction on the
parking deck is progressing.
2. Mrs. Steinburg informed the board that the CORE Search
Committee met on December 12, 2007 to go over the 15
applications that have been received so far for the
library director’s position. The next committee
meeting will be scheduled after the January 2, 2008
deadline. The committee will go over any new applications
at that time.
New Business
1. The Town of Normal Finance Day is Saturday, January
19, 2008.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be Wednesday,
January 30, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.
